Ink Finder Privacy Policy
Effective October 5, 2026
Ink Finder, Inc. (“Ink Finder,” “we,” “us”) runs a platform that connects people looking for tattoos with tattoo artists and shops, and gives shops tools to run bookings, payments, consent forms, and aftercare. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have.
It covers inkfinder.tattoo, the Ink Finder web app at app.inkfinder.tattoo, the booking forms shops place on their own websites, the Ink Finder app in ChatGPT, and the emails and notifications we send. Our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy adds detail for health information and is part of this policy.
Shops and artists are separate businesses
The shops and artists you find and book on Ink Finder are independent businesses. When you send a booking request, message a shop, or become a shop’s client, that shop and its staff receive your information and use it to work with you under their own practices. A shop can also add you as a client itself, with details you gave the shop directly.
Some records belong to the shop, and we keep them on the shop’s behalf. The main example is a consent form you sign for a shop. For those records, contact the shop first. We’ll help you and the shop with any request.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address, phone number, username, password, and anything you add to your profile, such as a photo, bio, hometown, languages, or Instagram handle. You confirm you’re 18 or older when you sign up.
- Booking requests and projects: your tattoo idea, style, placement, size, budget, reference photos, photos of an existing tattoo, preferred dates, and notes. If you choose, allergies or skin conditions the shop should know about.
- Messages: what you send to shops and artists through Ink Finder, including replies you send by email.
- Consent forms: when a shop asks you to sign its consent form, your legal name, date of birth, signature, your answers, and, for a minor, the parent or guardian’s name and relationship. We record the date, time, IP address, and browser of the signature as evidence of it.
- Identification: if a shop asks for it at check-in, a photo of your government ID. You choose whether to upload it, and you can remove it.
- Healing support: messages and photos you send your shop about how your tattoo is healing.
- Reviews and stories: reviews, photos, and stories you post about your tattoos.
- Payments: when you pay a deposit or balance, our payment processors, Stripe and Authorize.net, collect your card details. We receive the payment’s amount and status but never your full card number.
- Support requests and forms: what you send when you contact us, request an idea quote, or fill out a form on our site.
Information shops give us
A shop that adds you as a client can enter your name, email address, phone number, appointment details, prices, and payments, and its staff can write notes about your appointments and aftercare.
Information collected automatically
- Usage information: the pages and screens you view, the features you use, and errors you run into. We record your IP address and browser details at the start of each session.
- How you found us: the website that sent you, the first page you landed on, and campaign tags in the link, so a shop can see which of its links brought a booking.
- Sign-in records: when you sign in and from which browser, so we can protect your account.
- Email activity: whether an email we sent was delivered, opened, or clicked. Our email provider adds a small image and rewrites links to tell us.
- Cookies and similar technologies: described in the next section.
Tattoo ideas you plan with ChatGPT
When you use the Ink Finder Tattoo Designer in ChatGPT, we receive only what you share with it: your answers about the tattoo, your first name and email, and, if you send it for a quote, your earliest date and any phone number or last name you give. We don’t receive your other ChatGPT conversations. Nothing is shared until you confirm by email. If you post your idea to the Marketplace, artists and shops on Ink Finder can see it for 60 days, or until you close it from your idea’s page. If you send it for a quote, only the shops you chose receive it, and we create an Ink Finder client account for your email, as any booking request does, so the shops can reply to you. To have an idea deleted, email privacy@inkfinder.tattoo.
OpenAI’s own privacy policy covers your conversation with ChatGPT.
Information from other sources
- Public business information: our shop directory lists tattoo businesses using information they publish, such as a shop’s name, address, phone number, website, and social media profiles.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and browser storage for four purposes. We don’t use advertising cookies, advertising pixels, or session recording.
- Keeping you signed in and secure. A sign-in cookie (
ink_rt, 14 days) and a sign-in token in your browser’s storage, cookies that remember which shop and role you’re using and that you signed out (14 days), and security cookies that protect forms. These are needed for the service to work. - Remembering your preferences. Screen filters, sort orders, drafts, and notification choices, kept in your browser’s storage.
- Understanding how the service is used. Google Analytics sets cookies (
_ga, up to 2 years) to measure visits and page views. Our own analytics keeps a random visitor ID in your browser’s storage and a session ID that ends when you close the tab. - Remembering how you found us. A first-party cookie (
if_attr, 30 days) holds the referring site, landing page, campaign tags, and up to six pages you visit, and is saved with any booking you send.
Some pages also load content from other companies, which receive your IP address and browser details when they do: Google Fonts, Google Maps for address suggestions, the CKEditor text editor in the web app, and Open-Meteo for the weather on a shop’s dashboard, which receives the shop’s location, not yours.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the sign-in cookie signs you out.
How we use your information
- To run Ink Finder: create your account, send your booking requests and messages to the shop you chose, schedule appointments, take payments, and store consent forms.
- To communicate with you: confirmations, reminders, receipts, replies, account and security notices, and, if you haven’t opted out, news about Ink Finder and offers from shops you’re a client of.
- To keep the service safe: detect fraud, spam, and abuse, protect accounts, and enforce our terms.
- To understand and improve the service, using usage information and analytics.
- To meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
- With your consent, to collect health information and share it with your shop, as our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy describes.
How we share your information
- With shops and artists: the shop you contact or book with, and its artists and staff, receive your booking requests, messages, contact details, and the records of your appointments with them. Once you’re a shop’s client, the shop can contact you directly, including about its own offers. You can turn off each shop’s promotional emails in your settings.
- With service providers who work for us under contract and may use your information only to provide their service to us:
- cloud hosting providers, which store our servers, database, and files
- Stripe and Authorize.net, for payments
- Mailgun, for sending and receiving email
- Google, for analytics, maps, address lookups, and fonts
- Sentry, for error monitoring
- Dropbox, when a shop connects its Dropbox account, which receives copies of consent forms signed for that shop
- For legal reasons: to comply with the law, respond to valid legal process, protect anyone’s safety, or defend our rights.
- In a business transfer: if Ink Finder is merged, acquired, or sells its assets, your information may transfer under this policy.
- With your direction or consent in any other case.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for targeted advertising.
Your choices
- Emails: every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and your settings control which emails each shop can send you. We still send messages about your bookings, payments, and account.
- Push notifications: turn them on or off in your browser or in your settings.
- Global Privacy Control: when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we don’t load Google Analytics for you.
- Do Not Track: browsers send Do Not Track signals in different ways, and there’s no agreed standard for honoring them, so we don’t change our practices in response to one. We do honor Global Privacy Control, as described above.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it
- correct information that’s wrong
- delete your information
- opt out of the sale of personal information or targeted advertising, though we do neither
- withdraw consent you gave us, such as consent to collect health information
We extend these rights to everyone who uses Ink Finder, wherever they live.
How to make a request: you can edit your profile and close your account in your settings, and see or delete your health information there too. For anything else, email privacy@inkfinder.tattoo from the address on your account. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we act. We answer within 45 days and tell you if we need more time. Someone you authorize can make a request for you, with proof that you authorized them.
Closing your account signs you out everywhere and removes you from the shops you were part of, but keeps your records so we can restore the account if you change your mind. To have your information deleted, ask us at privacy@inkfinder.tattoo. We keep records we’re required to keep, such as payment and tax records, and records that belong to a shop, such as signed consent forms.
Appeals: if we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer with the word “Appeal.” We respond within 45 days. If you still disagree, you can contact your state attorney general.
We won’t treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
Health information
Allergy and skin details you add to a booking request, healing support messages and photos, and health answers on a shop’s consent form are health information. We collect them only with your consent, use them only to help your shop take care of you, and never sell them. Our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy describes exactly what we collect, who receives it, and how to see or delete it.
How long we keep information
- Account information: while your account is open, and after you close it until you ask us to delete it.
- Usage records with your IP address and browser details: 90 days. Sign-in records: about 13 months. Searches you run on Ink Finder: 90 days.
- Healing support threads and photos: 2 years after the thread is resolved, or until you delete them.
- Signed consent forms: at least 7 years after signing, because shops often have to keep them.
- ID photos: until you or the shop removes the photo, or your information is deleted.
- Tattoo ideas from ChatGPT and their reference photos: on the Marketplace for 60 days or until you close them, then kept until you ask us to delete them.
- Appointment, payment, and booking records, including how you found us: as long as needed for the shop’s records and our legal and tax obligations.
Deleted information leaves our backups within 30 days.
Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring, and we limit who can see it. No system is perfectly secure, so keep your password private and tell us at privacy@inkfinder.tattoo if you think your account has been compromised.
Age requirement and minors
Ink Finder accounts are for people 18 and older, and the service isn’t directed to children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it.
Where state law allows a minor to be tattooed with a parent or guardian’s consent, the parent or guardian signs the shop’s consent form, and the shop is responsible for checking age and consent. A minor doesn’t have an Ink Finder account, and we don’t sell minors’ information or use it for targeted advertising.
Where we process information
Ink Finder is based in the United States and stores and processes information in the United States.
Changes to this policy
We post every change on this page with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we tell you in the app or by email and ask you to accept the updated policy the next time you sign in.
